White Wine oder wie zuvor Vin Blanc, sind Joe Haege (31 Knots / Tu Fawning / Menomena), Fritz Brückner (der Aufnahme-Guru der Warm Graves Platte) und Christian Kühr (Zentralheizung Of Death) aus Leipzig. Das vom Duo zum Trio gewachsene Klein-Ensemble klingt wie eine ganze Brechtsche Theateraufführung – es rasselt und klimpert an allen Ecken und Enden. Haege ist ein etwas wahnsinniger Chansonnier, der spooky 20er Jahre-Zirkusdirektor, der etwas entrückt aber stets zur rechten Zeit die richtigen Töne anstimmt. Die Atmosphäre, die geschaffen wird, ist durchweg düster und beklemmend, subtil bedrohlich ohne brutal zu sein.
Es gibt viele Sounds vom Sampler, gepaart mit analogen Instrumenten und Schlagzeug – dazu ein äusserst kontaktfreudiger Joe Haege, der im ausgebeulten Anzug auf Tuchfühlung mit dem Zuschauer geht… Fantastisch! Analog trifft Konserve. Sounds mal freundlich und warm, mal mechanisch, künstlich und maschinell. White Wine nennen das „cheap sounds“, die, selbst wenn sie in der Jetztzeit state of the Art wären, in ein paar Jahren total veraltet wären – die moderne Welt ist zu schnell für uns! Die daraus resultierende Logik: warum sollte man dann also überhaupt probieren am Puls der Zeit zu sein? Genau, „cheap sounds“ halt…
Und was ist es nun, was die drei da machen? Verrückter Kammer-Pop oder Cabaret-Noir-Indie? Letztendlich irgendwie egal. Hauptsache es funktioniert und macht Spaß!
